carrying jacket

Babywearing jacket, babywearing cover or babywearing insert?

When it gets colder, we are always asked which carrying jackets we recommend. First and foremost, because we are often asked that: we do not produce carrying jackets or covers. Since there are always new covers and jackets, we cannot stay up to date, which carrying jackets, covers, etc. would fit our baby carrier. It's best to ask the manufacturer of the jackets or covers, they know that for sure.

So now, what do we recommend? A carrying jacket, cover, extender? Here are all the advantages and disadvantages at a glance:

Babywearing Jacket:

Advantages:

  1. Cozy and warm, you cuddle under the jacket together with your baby, so you have a good feeling for whether your baby is warm enough.
  2. Quick to put on and take off.

Disadvantages:

  1. The price. Babywearing jackets are expensive to buy.
  2. If you like it very fashionable, you may find it difficult to find something suitable.
  3. If you get cold quickly in winter or if you live in an area where it gets really, really cold, then you might not find a babywearing jacket that still keeps you warm in sub-zero temperatures.
  4. If you are traveling by car, you have to take off your jacket in freezing temperatures, take the baby out and put it in the child seat*

Carrying Cover:

Advantages:

  1. Favorable price.
  2. Large selection.
  3. If you are traveling by car, you can quickly take your baby out of the carrier and put it in the child safety seat.

Disadvantages:

  1. You don't know exactly how warm it is for your baby
  2. You have to attach the cover
  3. For really cold areas you need a very warm cover

carrying insert:

Advantages:

  1. Favorable price.
  2. You can use it to complement your normal jacket
  3. Quick to put on and take off
  4. You can cuddle with your baby under the jacket

Disadvantages:

  1. The jacket insert may not quite match your jacket visually.
  2. If you are traveling by car, you have to take off your jacket in freezing temperatures, take the baby out and put it in the child seat

Borrow a large jacket, e.g. from Baby's Papa:

Advantages:

  1. costs nothing
  2. Cozy and warm, you cuddle under the jacket together with your baby, so you have a good feeling for whether your baby is warm enough.
  3. Quick to put on and take off.

Disadvantages:

If you like it very fashionable, you may not feel quite so comfortable in a men's jacket.

These are our favourites. Do you already have experience with wearing in winter? What do you like most, cover, jacket or insert? We look forward to a comment from you and you will also help other carrying mums and dads with their decision.

*But be careful: your baby is only wearing normal clothes and needs a blanket, fur or something similar in the child seat
